3d/Binaural Audio (These Times)

My newest song in the works is one that uses a binaural panner. This accessible option allows me to make far more balanced mixes, as I have more areas in which I place the sounds. As my songs tend to get more and more complicated, the ability to have all my tracks placed in a far wider mix is something that gives me the clarity I need. There are less limitations of stereo when I can surround the listener with sounds more appropriately.

This style of immersive audio is one that avoid the problems of not knowing where to place something since compromise is far easier when you are just dealing with a left and right channel. While binaural audio still uses left and right, it can create the simulation of this sounding at the back of your head. With the right engineering work, it is easier to create this space and make it far immersive in my opinion over using a binaural microphone setup.

I want to at some point use 5.1 or 7.1 surrounds sound and find a decent way to encode this down to stereo. The options to place your sound in a 360 environment doesn’t mean this translates best to a surround system, however, I’d like to figure out some avenue in my workflow that allows me to create to both effortlessly. When wanting to monitor 3D audio, having multiple monitors/speakers is far more practical than attempting to try to hear it’s replication as best as possible.
